Holiday Extras has made its coach insurance available to book online for all travel agents. The insurance has no limit as is cheaper as it has been tailored to customers taking coach holidays, which the add-ons company said agents had suggested. “Before, agents had to email us to ask for a policy and we had to post it to them – now, they instantly have the document to give to the customer,” said Andrea Clayton, head of insurance at Holiday Extras. “It delivers good commission – agents can set their own prices – and the next step will be that even agents who are not selling our insurance will be able to offer their customers a coach insurance policy just by making a quick call to our call centre.” She said the system should reduce the risk of customers booking through the tour operator instead. However the product has been launched after the company found that 49% of holidaymakers have ruled out a coach break as their holiday choice. This contradicts Door2Tour’s news that it has seen a 65% rise in bookings for UK coach breaks in this year’s first quarter.
