Travelodge acquires Mercure Gatwick hotel

Travelodge has tripled its room stock at Gatwick following the acquisition of the on-site Mercure Hotel. The four-star hotel will now undergo a refurbishment and expansion to convert into a Travelodge property. As a result, the hotel’s meeting rooms, restaurants, swimming pool and gym are set to be converted into 146 rooms. This would boost the property’s room capacity from 257 to 400. “We have been looking for some time to increase the number of rooms we have at Gatwick, to match our offering at Heathrow airport,” said Guy Parsons, CEO of Travelodge. “Finding the perfect site close to the airport with adequate rooms has been a tough challenge but I am delighted that we are able to add this fantastic hotel to our brand.”
