Bahrain Grand Prix confirmed for October

The Bahrain Grand Prix will take place in October this year, it was revealed today. FIA and Bahrain’s Government said the race would be reintroduced on 28-30 October in the Gulf State after assessments found the country to be safe. Bahrain was originally due to hold the opening Formula 1 race in March but was cancelled due to protests in the country. Gulf Air, which sponsors the GP, welcomed the announcement. “This is great news,” said Samer Majali, CEO of Gulf Air. “The announcement is not only a statement of confidence that the Kingdom is back to business and is fully prepared to host the event but also a reflection of the overwhelming support by the people and the business of Bahrain to bring back the race.”
