European Commissioner to speak at City Fair event

The European Commissioner of Industry and Entrepreneurship is set to face a grilling from the travel industry at this year’s City Fair in London. Antonio Tajani, who is also vice president of the EC, will make a presentation to the media before taking part in a live panel discussion in front of delegates. In the session, named How to Make Europe More Competitive as a Tourism Destination, he will be joined by Christopher Rodrigues, chairman of VisitBritain; Patrick Richards, chairman of ETOA; Jennifer Tombaugh, vice president of Tauck Travel; John Vine, independent chief inspector of the UK Border Agency and Urs Eberhard, executive vice president markets and meetings at Switzerland Tourism. Topics will include political support for tourism; visas; taxation; the Olympics; emerging markets; new destinations and how to market Europe.
