Travel trade get access to hotel safety reports

Hotel health and safety reports are to be made available to the travel trade by auditor Check Safety First. The company, which audits its hotels every month, is to put the information online under the name of TourCheck so tour operators and travel agents can see the health and safety standards of the hotels it uses. Mark Harrington, CEO of Check Safety First told Travel Daily that the free reports could cover be helpful for those who dynamically package holidays. “Tour operators and travel agents have a duty of care in dynamic packaging and no one understands the legal,” he explained. “Access to these reports could add to the question of ‘did you do as much as you could to check safety'”. He added that Check Safety First would offer help in legal situations between travel companies and hotels, but said that any concerns from the report would have to be dealt with between the two parties. The reports, which cover areas such as food hygiene, fire safety and pool safety, will soon be available online through www.tourcheck.eu.com. “Checking safety helps a brand name to improve, encourages repeat bookings and can allow for better negotiations,” added Harrington.
