Northampton hotels ‘missing out’ on Silverstone bookings

Hoteliers in Northampton are missing a chance to catch individual bookings for the British Grand Prix this weekend, according to a hotel market analyst. Data from TravelClick has shown that committed occupancy from 8-11 July has dropped 6.2% compared to last year, with customers favouring a one-night stay, or cheaper, approach instead. This has seen individual bookings increase by 75% with Sunday night’s occupancy up 10% year-on-year, while there has been a large drop in group bookings and camping pitches are said to be sold out. “The data we have pulled is quite interesting – although transient bookings are up, group bookings at Northampton based hotels are down by 39.2% compared to last year,” said Jan Tissera, president of TravelClick International. “At this point in the booking window, hotels should look to monitor and adjust prices to encourage further bookings as we quickly approach the week countdown to the event itself. There is a real opportunity for hoteliers to analyse their prices and fill all remaining rooms.”
