Aviva Pearson FTS was named as the new chairman of the Tourism Society at its annual conference in Hampshire this week. Robin Barker MTS, Peter Cole FTS, Phil Long FTS and Sandra Matthews Marsh MTS were also announced as board members at the AGM, which has been hailed as the society’s ‘best in four years’. The board will also be joined by Carole Sherlock MTS who has a seat in her role as Chairman of Tourism Society Scotland. “The UK tourism industry can be justifiably proud of the many innovations that have been developed here – we just don’t always tell people, and this conference has provided a unique opportunity to do so,” said David Curtis-Brignell TFS CB, former chairman of the society. Speakers at the AGM included Tony Potter, chief executive and managing director of Corinthia Hotels who spoke about innovation and David Quarmby CBE FTS, who discussed technological developments.
