Etihad Airways has claimed the naming rights to Manchester City Football Club’s (MCFC) stadium and campus in a new 10-year deal. Under the agreement, the City of Manchester Stadium will be renamed as the Etihad Stadium and its surrounding area will be known as Etihad Campus, including part of the Sportcity site and City Square entertainment space. The airline will also continue to sponsor MCFC’s shirts and the two will work together on media, operations, community and branding strategies. In addition, the airline also unveiled a MCFC-branded A330-200 ahead of the introduction of its twice daily flights from Manchester to Abu Dhabi. “This is a game-changing partnership agreement that redefines the traditional sports sponsorship paradigm. It is an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for two iconic brands that share the same vision to promote far-reaching global awareness and business growth,” said James Hogan, CEO of Etihad Airways.
