Perth is to hold next year’s Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE) for the third time, it has been announced. The annual trade show will be held from 15-21 June 2012, with its Western Hemisphere chapter from 18-21 June. Andrew McEvoy, managing director of Tourism Australia said he expects to see 700 delegates and 1, 700 tour operators at the event. “ATE is a once a year opportunity to bring Australia’s tourism businesses together to collectively showcase their products to the companies who sell Australian holiday experiences to consumers in our key markets overseas,” said McEvoy. “The immediate impact for Western Australia of hosting ATE is estimated to be around AUS$10 million during the week-long event, but the longer term impact for the state and the country is far greater.” Perth has also been host city to the event in 2005 and 2008.
