Thomas Cook chief resigns

The chief executive of Thomas Cook, Manny Fontenla-Novoa has left the company “with immediate effect”. The company announced the decision today, saying that Sam Weihagen will step in as interim CEO while a permanent successor is found. The company has suffered this year, issuing a series of profit warnings due to the unrest in North Africa and stagnant economic conditions. Fontenla-Novoa had headed-up Thomas Cook since 2003.
