Haven Holidays has seen its breaks to Britain’s traditional seaside resorts sell the most for this summer. Devon and Cornwall continue to be the most popular destinations sold through high street travel agents (27%) followed by Yorkshire/Lincolnshire (25%) and North Wales, Blackpool and the Lakes with 14% of bookings. “There appears to be a resurgence in demand for some of the more traditional British seaside locations this summer such as Blackpool and Great Yarmouth as Brits continue to take advantage of the numerous Blue Flag beaches we have on our doorstep,” said Allan Lambert, head of retail sales at Bourne Leisure. Bookings for Blackpool specifically have increased 7% during the summer holidays with a 60% surge for September and October bookings. The news comes after the resort has improved its tourist attractions including the opening of Nickelodeon World at Pleasure Beach and the soon to be relaunched Blackpool Tower. VisitBlackpool has also announced that James Morrison has been added to the concert for its illuminations switch-on this year. Pixie Lott, Joe McElderry, Olly Murs, Paul Carrack, Wonderland and The Overtones will also be performing at The Big Switch On Party.
