Travelport has launched a new point-and-click Smartpoint App for the Galileo Desktop. The application combines click-through navigation and graphical user interfaces with the intention of speeding up the reservation process, reduce call handling time and improve the agent user experience. Agents can also use an interactive calendar to combine air and hotel search in one view and the app will process commands from any GDS system to minimise training. Gillian Gibson, chief marketing officer at Travelport expects the app to spread across the industry. “I foresee Travelport Smartpoint App being hungrily adopted by the industry, as it is easy to install, becomes operational extremely fast and, on top of that, it provides intelligent system translation capabilities,” she explained. “In other words, it supports other GDS languages, eliminates the need for re-training, and allows any user to hit the ground running with the GDS language they are used to”. The Smartpoint App is expected to reduce call handling times and keystrokes by15% and up to 72%.
