Year-on-year European hotel rates increase

Hotel rates across Europe have continued to increase compared to last year, despite coming in at the lowest this year. Thirty nine of trivago’s top 50 European cities showed more than 5% rises in year-on-year prices with some up as much as 20%. This included Paris (+19%), Prague (+19%), Venice (+45%), Milan (+24%), Frankfut (+25%) and Geneva (+26%). However in month-by-month comparison, rates in August have proved cheaper than July, with costs down 32% in Geneva, 19% in London, 15% in Rome and 13% in Istanbul. Festival holding cities Edinburgh and Salzburg have seen price hikes of 42% and 24% respectively.
