Tourism Victoria has launched a road-trip style training programme for travel agents to replace its annual training events. The interactive scheme uses YouTube videos to follow local representatives through the Australian state in a Mini Cooper. It has been designed to show what clients can get up to in Victoria and how it can be accessed by car. “We’ve launched this programme to help our partners better understand the destination’s experiences and the videos could also be used by agents to showcase Melbourne and Victoria to the customer in a visual way,” said Claire Golding, regional manager for UK and Europe at Tourism Victoria. “We appreciate that there are a lot of travel agent roadshows and RoadTrip Victoria has replaced our annual agent training events with an innovative and fun programme”. Agents also have the chance to enter a prize draw once they’ve completed a quiz at the end of the training and Tourism Australia’s Victoria Specialist module on its Aussie Specialist training programme. Prizes include an iPad 2 and iPod Touch and agents must complete the modules by 31 August to be entered into the draw.
