Tour operator Rocky Mountaineer has launched a range of rail and cruise itineraries and a new rail route from Seattle to strengthen its ties with the cruise industry. The new product has been launched to take advantage of the fact that 47% of its GoldLeaf customers take a cruise from Vancouver or Seattle. It has now partnered with Holland America Line Cruises to launch combined itineraries, including a new Coastal Passage rail route which will connect Seattle to Vancouver through the Canadian Rockies. The tour operator has also sent out brochures to ACE travel agents to capitalise on the market. “With so many of our guests combining a cruise with a trip on Rocky Mountaineer, it’s vital that we work as closely as we can with agents and cruise retailers to help them give their customers what they want. We’re already working with a number of cruise specialists combining, cruise product such as Regent and Silversea with our rail product,” said Leslie Peden, director of sales EMEA at Rocky Mountaineer. “This year we offered over 12 different Rail & Cruise itineraries with Holland America as well as a pre-cruise rail trip to Whistler as a part of an Alaska cruise onboard Disney’s Wonder”.
