Costa Cruises returns to Japanese ports

Costa Cruises celebrated the return of its Japan port calls last week with a welcoming ceremony onboard Costa Classica. The ship call at Fukuoka included the cruise line’s operations team in Asia as well as Japanese travel agents and Soichiro Takashima, mayor of Fukuoka City; Koji Tanaka, chairman of Kyushu Cruise Promotion Conference; Yoshitomo Tamaki, director general of Kyushu District Transport Bureau and Toshiyuki Kakugawa, chairman of Hakata Port Promotion Association. “Together with the deployed of an even bigger ship, Costa Victoria, into the Asia region and Japan in 2012, we aim to demonstrate Costa Cruises’ commitment to the region, both in terms of a travel destination as well as a key source market,” said Dario Rustico, vice president sales and marketing of Costa’s Pacific Asia Operations. Costa Victoria will also be deployed in the Asia Pacific region next year, expanding its capacity in the area by 40%.
