London occupancy low for Olympics

London’s hotels still have plenty of availability for the Olympics period after registering just 9.7% occupancy, according to market analysts. Data from TravelClick has shown that although London’s hotels have committed a large number of rooms to those visiting for the games, the uptake on bookings has been slow so far. The news may not worry hoteliers yet as consumers continue to book at the last minute, but with committed occupancy up a staggering 421% for the opening ceremony night on 27 July, they will certainly hope that bookings come through in the final months build-up. The average daily rate across the 16-day period is up 31.8% compared to prices this July.
