UK cottage and self catering company Sheepskin has been named as the travel winner of Google’s ‘Best of British Web’ competition. The company’s website was chosen due to the amount of bookings it had generated through having an online presence, as well as its design, usability and content. “Winning the Best of the British Web competition means a lot to us as we’ve worked hard to deliver what our customers want through our collection and brand online. The website allows us to reach a huge market and we’ve learnt to promote ourselves to the right audiences through search and social media,” said Helen Shaw, co-founder of Sheepskin. “Making small changes to the site has had a big impact on our success. The website is vital to our business so we’re delighted to be recognised by Google”. Google is encouraging more small and medium sized businesses to get online after it found that 40% of SMEs do not have a website. Of those who are offline, 60% thought it was too costly or complicated.
