Latvia’s Ministry of Transport has insisted it continues to support airBaltic’s development despite denying the airline a bail-out during its struggling financial situation.
The government has insisted it will continue to in vest into the carrier despite announcing job cuts and flight cancellations last week, a statement released by airBaltic said.
Half of the carrier’s staff is to be made redundant, meaning 500 will lose their jobs including pilots and cabin crew. In addition more than a thousand flights will be cancelled in the coming months. The news comes as the carrier continues to report losses despite a rise in traffic.
