Salford is gearing up to host tourism industry professionals next week as the host city for the Tourism Management Institute (TMI) convention.
Delegates will be based in The Lowry, Salford Quays for the conference on Thursday 6 and Friday 7October, which focuses on destination management across the UK, Europe and worldwide. The conference hosting comes after a major revamp of the Salford Quays area, which includes the new Media City complex and reopening of Ordsall Hall.
“Tourism is an important contributor to our economy and reputation, and so it is a great coup for Salford to host the TMI conference and we welcome its delegates to the city,” said councillor John Merry CBE of Salford City Council. “Whilst we attracted over six million visitors to our city in 2009, we are always seeking to raise the city’s profile further, and we look forward to sharing ideas with other destination management professionals and hopefully welcome many more people visitors in the coming years”.
