The number of people visiting Abu Dhabi decreased 5% in Augustcompared to last year, figures have shown. However, according to Abu DhabiTourism Authority (ADTA), guest nights has increased 14% during the month, signallinga rise in length of stay.
“The overall increase in guest nights is stronglyinfluenced by the number of longer staying guests in hotel apartments and alsoimpacted the average-length-of-stay, which was up by 20%,” said LawrenceFranklin, strategy and policy director at ADTA. “Some of the performance inthis accommodation type can also be attributed to temporary relocationsderiving from unrest in some Middle East countries”.
The hotel apartment market’soccupancy was boosted 6% compared to last year and overall accommodationoccupancy rose 2%. More than 1.3 million people have stayed in Abu Dhabi’saccommodation so far this year with arrivals from the UK up 18%.
