The number of flights operating to and from Europe will increase 4% year-on-year this month, according to the OAG schedules database. There will be 112,996 scheduled flights to and from the region in October 2011, compared to 108,426 in the same month last year, with seat capacity also expanding 4%. Within Europe there will be 617,940 scheduled flights this month, up 2% year-on-year, with 5% more seat capacity.
This rate of increase is approximately in line with the global average of a 3% increase in flights and a 5% rise in seat capacity. The highest rate of growth was seen in flights to and from the Asia Pacific region (+11% year-on-year) and within Africa (+10%).
