‘Boycott hotel WiFi,’ says Wired UK editor

Travellers should boycott hotel wireless internet services against high charges, the editor of Wired UK said today. On speaking about WiFi services in his seminar at ABTA’s Travel Convention, David Rowan said that hotel WiFi was a ‘rip-off’ and called on hotels to change the way they viewed internet charges. “It looks like a rip-off, if McDonalds and Starbucks can provide free WiFi then why can’t hotels?”. He suggested that hotels should offer basic ‘vanilla’ internet as standard, charging for higher speeds if customers enquire.
