Qatar Airways touches down in Oslo

Qatar Airways touched down in Oslo for the first time on Wednesday. The Norwegian capital will now be served five times a week from Doha (on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays) using an Airbus A330 featuring 24 seats in Business Class and 236 seats in Economy. Oslo becomes Qatar Airways’ third destination in Scandinavia following Stockholm and Copenhagen.

Akbar Al Baker, Qatar Airways’ CEO, led a high-profile delegation on the inaugural flight, including Norway’s Ambassador to Qatar, HE Ase Elin Bjerke.

“Qatar Airways has reached yet another key milestone in Europe, with Oslo becoming our seventh European destination launched so far this year,” said Al Baker on arrival in the Norwegian capital.

“We are delighted to add this vibrant, scenic city of Oslo to our global route network, further strengthening our operations in Scandinavia and clearly proving how important this dynamic travel market is for Qatar Airways. We now operate 19 flights a week across three Scandinavian cities making Qatar Airways the biggest Gulf carrier in the Nordic market,” he added.

Oslo becomes the seventh new European destination Qatar Airways has launched in 2011, following Bucharest, Budapest, Brussels, Stuttgart, Venice and Sofia. Services to the Azerbaijani capital Baku, and the Georgian capital Tbilisi are expected to commence in Q1 2012.
