Lithuania Tourist Board has announced it will be handing out goodie bags to the first 50 travel agents that visit its stand on Wednesday and Thursday of WTM. The tourist board has also become the first country to release its own official scent, which will be launched at the trade show alongside the tourist board’s environmentally friendly strategy.
Lithuania’s involvement follows a successful year in visitor arrivals, with total figures up 25% in the first half of the year compared to last year, including a 12.6% rise in UK visitors. The success has been attributed to AITO holding its joint conference in Vilnius and the global coverage of the YouTube video, showing the Mayor of Vilnius crushing an illegally-parked sports car with a tank to raise awareness in eco issues.
“We’ll be revealing the latest news and inspirational holiday ideas in the country at WTM and are particularly excited to have the Major of Vilnius on our exhibition stand to meet with members of the press, as well as tour operators and agents,” said Augusta Jaudegyte, director of the Lithuanian Tourist Board.
