Air prices to increase by 4.1% in 2012, says CWT

Ticket prices on flights from the UK are expected toincrease between 2.2% and 4.1% next year, according to Carlson Wagonlit Travel’slatest forecast. The latest predictions from CWT said prices across Europe,Middle East and Africa would see low, single-digit cost increases next year, whilehotel prices across the regions will differ drastically depending on localdemand.

Similar cost increases are also expected in the Asia Pacific region andNorth America. The Latin American market is set to see the biggest price increase,with air tickets to rise 5.8% and hotel rates to soar up to 12.2%.

“Travel buyers in most parts ofthe world are facing tough negotiations as the landscape increases incomplexity. At the same time, economic uncertainty continues in some parts ofthe world and has resurfaced in others, prompting increasing questions on exactlywhat 2012 holds in store for organisations and, by extension, for businesstravel,” said Nick Vournakis, vice president at CWT Solutions Group.
