Tiger traffic continues to suffer

Tiger Airways’ passenger traffic remained subdued in September 2011 as the low-cost carrier recovers from its Australian grounding. The airline carried 395,000 passengers last month – down 15% compared to the same month last year. Load factors plunged nine percentage points to 78%. The decline in traffic was due to Tiger operating at reduced capacity in Australia.

In the 12 months to September 2011 however, Tiger carried 5.91 million passengers – 6% more than the previous 12-month period. Load factors averaged a healthy 85%.
