Lufthansa’s Asian load factors fall

Lufthansa Group’s load factors on flights to and from Asia Pacific declined in September 2011. The group, which includes Lufthansa, SWISS and Austrian Airlines, recorded average cabin loads of 83.3% last month – 3.4 percentage points down compared to September 2010. Passenger traffic actually climbed 7.1%, but this failed to keep pace with an 11.5% capacity expansion.

Year-to-date, Lufthansa’s Asian traffic climbed 7.7%, with load factors dropping 4.0 points to 81.3%.
