Garuda Indonesia has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CFM International for the long-term maintenance and support of the CFM56-7B engines powering its fleet of 63 Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
Potentially running for 15 years, the deal will see CFM provide engine maintenance service and guarantee maintenance costs on a dollar-per-engine-flight-hour basis. CFM and Garuda’s maintenance arm, GMF Aero Asia, will also jointly develop GMF’s overhaul capability for the CFM56-7B engine. Once capable, CFM will offload Garuda’s CFM56-7B overhauls to GMF.
“This partnership is a concrete manifestation of long-term support for Garuada and for our fleet revitalisation program,” said Emirsyah Satar, President & CEO of Garuda Indonesia. “This agreement shows the trust and appreciation that CFM and its parent companies, GE and Snecma, have for our airline, as well as their whole-hearted support of our successful turn-around and business transformation.”
