Plans are afoot in the Maldives that will change the way people see the game of golf, with the world’s first floating golf course. The 18-hole course will be made up of artificial floating islands connected by underwater tunnels. The audacious island network will also boast luxury accommodation as well, with two or three houses per island. In keeping with the nation’s zero carbon objective, the project will be entirely solar powered and developed by Dutch Docklands, a company with a reputation for producing zero-carbon footprint projects. Due for completion in 2015, Orange News reports that the course will be strategically located five minutes from the airport to attract stopover golfers.
