Malaysia Airlines’ (MAS) first Airbus A380 took off for its maiden flight late last week. The double-decker jet successfully completed the five-hour journey from the Airbus assembly line in Toulouse, France, to the paint shop and interior assembly plant in Hamburg. It will now be adorned with the MAS white, blue and red livery and fitted with the cabin products, including 508 seats in four classes.
Powered by four Rolls-Royce Trent 900 engines, the aircraft is the first of six A380s ordered by MAS, and is expected to be delivered in the second quarter of 2012. MAS will be the eighth airline to operate the A380 worldwide, and the fifth in Asia Pacific.
