Thailand-based hotel management company, ONYX Hospitality Group, has introduced two new spa brands. The company said that following a review of the existing spa offerings within the group’s main hotel brand, Amari, it was decided that more than one spa offering was needed to cater to the group’s expanded portfolio of hotel brands. As such, ONYX has developed ‘Breeze Spa’ for its mid-tier hotels, and ‘Maai Spa’ for its upscale properties.
ONYX’s Corporate Director of Spa, Kirsty MacCormick explained; “We felt that we needed a mid-range brand to replace the existing spa concept in the Amari properties. However, we did not feel that this type of brand offering would suit luxury or five-star properties.”
Breeze Spas are designed to appeal to a wide-reaching demographic, offering a simple range of treatments such as traditional body therapies or massages. The first Breeze Spa will open its doors at Amari Hua Hin in April 2012. Plans are also underway to refurbish the existing Amari spas with the Breeze design.
Maai Spa, on the other hand, will offer a more innovative range of luxury wellness products, with a combination of private suite-based treatments, herbal programmes and advanced skincare science.
“We felt that creating a luxury spa brand around Thai traditions was very important, given that we are a Thai company,” said Ms MacCormack. “Maai will take a very new-era approach to achieving results through beauty treatments and technology. There will also be a luxury manicure and pedicure bar, along with personalised spa and beauty treatments which emphasise the importance of diet, exercise and relaxation.”
As well as rolling the new products out to its own portfolio of properties, ONYX also plans to offer management services for third party hotels, luxury residential or mixed used developments and airport lounges.
