Shimla dance festival boosts tourism

In a bid to promote tourism in Himachal Pradesh, the state authorities recently organised an international dance festival. Performers from Russia, Brazil, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Italy took part in the two-day festival, which kicked off on 14 October and included various forms of dance such as ballet and tap. Prem Sharma, Director of the state’s Language, Art & Culture Department, told newstrackindia.com; “the event aimed at providing a platform to international artists in India and to promote tourism in the state. It is an international dance festival and the state authorities have made efforts to draw more tourists from various parts of India and abroad to Shimla and also to encourage international art and culture in our country with our national festivals.”
