Kochi metro hits trouble

The Kochi metro rail project has hit another obstacle with groups in Aluva demanding the government withdraw the current route plan. The Kochi Metro Rail Anti-Alignment Action Committee wants the previous plan connecting the western side of Aluva railway station, the mini civil station and Pulinchuvadu implemented instead.
“Three municipal shopping complexes will have to be pulled down. More than 100 shops operate out of these complexes. The Aluva municipality has passed a resolution against the alignment,” the Times of India reported the Action Committe’s Chairman, Abdul Majeed, as saying.
The plan to extend the metro rail project to Nedumbassery linking Ernakulam and Cochin International Airport had been rolled back.
