Metro rail stations near heritage buildings in Chennai will have entry and exit points not higher than 6m. A heritage conservation committee accepted the location and size of the new designs submitted by Chennai Metro Rail yesterday. “Metro rail made changes to two underground stations – Central station and high court – as per the suggestions given by the committee earlier,” a committee member told Times of India.
The entry and exit points will be similar to subway entrances and about 3m tall. The heritage committee, consisting of Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority planners, architects and conservation experts accepted conceptual drawings submitted by metro rail. The drawings indicate details of entry and exit points, ventilation shafts and buildings to house power backup and fire and safety equipment
