Sri Lanka revises 2011 arrivals target

Tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka have grown faster than expected and the country expected to exceed its original target of attracting 750,000 tourists for the 2011 year this week. Lanka Business Online quoted Nalaka Godahewa, Chairman of Sir Lanka Tourism Development Authority, saying the annual target has now been raised to 800,000 visitors by year-end, up 22% from 2010. From January to September 2011, total arrivals rose 34.3% to 598,006 visitors.
