Virgin Atlantic to offer wireless phone charging

Virgin Atlantic has signed a deal with Nokia to offer wireless charging facilities at its London Heathrow Clubhouse.

Charging plates will be introduced to the Clubhouse later this year with plans to roll it out to the JFK Clubhouse at a later date. It comes as Nokia announced its new Nokia Lumia 920 is to be the first smartphone with built-in wireless charging.

“Virgin Atlantic is putting passengers first by removing a major anxiety, particularly for business travellers – how to keep their phone charged throughout a long day,” said Jo Harlow, executive vice president of Smart Devices, Nokia. “The Virgin deal is a first step in our plan to make wireless charging as ubiquitous as Wi-Fi is today.”
