Virgin Atlantic CEO to retire

Virgin Atlantic’s CEO Steve Ridgway has announced he is to retire next spring after 23 years at the airline.

Ridgway first joined the airline as managing director of frequent flyer programme Virgin Freeway and has been chief executive at Virgin Atlantic since 2001. He will leave the company in spring 2013 and is working with Sir Richard Branson to find a replacement.

“He will be very much involved with the airline into next year and will doubtlessly be involved in other Virgin projects as we value his skills so highly,” added Branson.
