bmi regional has outlined its plans for the future having been bought by Sector Aviation Holidays (SAH).

Speaking at an airline convention earlier this week the airline’s executive chairman Ian Woodley revealed the carrier will operate under the ‘BM’ code ahead of its network launch on 28 October.

Its new Aberdeen-Bristol and Manchester-Antwerp services have boosted its network to 11 European and four domestic routes, with bases at East Midlands and Aberdeen airports.

The carrier is close to completing its independence to bmi, including new IT systems and commercial structures.

“Free from the ties of big carrier ownership and practices we are emerging as a flexible, streamlined, nimble and forward-thinking regional airline with the ability to act quickly to launch new route opportunities and explore new business opportunities in the sector,” said Woodley.

bmi regional will be attending World Routes next week to look into new routes while it is said to be keen on ad-hoc charter agreements. It currently has agreements in place with Brussels Airlines and British Airways and is due to fly nine Premier League football teams to matches in the coming months.
