Thai Airways International (THAI) today took delivery of its first Airbus A380 aircraft, becoming the ninth carrier to operate the super-sized aircraft.
Royally bestowed “SI RATTANA”, the jet will depart from Toulouse at 1600 on its maiden flight to Bangkok. Passengers on this flight include members of THAI management and support staff, Airbus executives, aircraft acceptance teams and media covering the event and delivery flight.
THAI will receive a total of six Airbus A380 aircraft, three of which will be accepted during this Winter Programme, and two aircraft will be accepted in 2013.
THAI’s first Airbus A380-800 will operate scheduled flights to and from Bangkok-Hong Kong and Bangkok-Singapore beginning 6 October 2012 until the delivery of the second aircraft, approximately in mid-December 2012, when THAI will operate to and from Bangkok-Frankfurt and continue operations to and from Bangkok-Hong Kong. In January 2013, THAI will begin operating the Airbus A380-800 to and from Bangkok-Narita and then between Bangkok-Paris in February 2013.
