Fairmont Hamilton Princess switches owners

Fairmont Hamilton Princess is to be given a US$50 million revamp after switching to new family owners.

The Bermudian hotel has been bought by the family behind Claridge’s, London although the Bermuda property will continue to be operated by Fairmont Hotels & Resorts.

Refurbishments set out by its previous owners Global Hospitality Investments will be seen through including a new marina, room upgrade and the redevelopment of its public areas to appeal more to leisure travellers. A residential element to the hotel is also being considered.

“While the hotel has traditionally attracted business visitors, we believe that there is great potential to increase the leisure side of the business through enhancements to the hotel’s leisure facilities,” said Andrew Green, on behalf of new owners, the Green family. “The hotel has a superb team of management and staff in place, some of whom have devoted as many as 40 years of their lives to its success. We look forward to continuing the good work that GHI has done with plans to upgrade the hotel on an ongoing basis.”
