India and Austria are looking at enhancing their bilateral relations.
A delegation led by Austria’s Federal Minister for Transport, Innovation and Technology Doris Bures met India’s Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh to discuss the growth of air services between these two countries. Singh said, “The growth of air services between the two countries will greatly facilitate cordial relationship, connectivity, trade and tourism.”
The meeting also discussed the issue of substantial ownership and effective control of Austrian Airlines due to its takeover by Lufthansa. The Austrian delegation was requested to clarify the shareholding pattern of the airline. “The issue has to be resolved through discussions between the concerned authorities of the two countries keeping in mind the legal and rule position,” Singh said in a PIB release.
Austrian Airlines currently operates six services a week between Vienna and New Delhi. The capacity entitlements are 14 services per week for each country.
