Luxury travel club Secret Escapes has secured GBP8 million of new funding to fuel its UK growth and an international launch.
The flash sale website has received additional funding from Index Ventures for its expansion, which will include a new last-minute giveaway concept named Secret Escapes Impulse.
It comes after the start-up saw revenues increase dramatically in the last year with its membership at more than two million since its launch in January 2011.
“Our extraordinary growth, given the economic challenges facing the industry, is a testament that we are delivering successfully to our members and high end consumers,” said Alex Saint, CEO of Secret Escapes. “The mindset of travellers seeking luxury has changed and everyone is looking for a quality deal that represents good value whatever they are buying.”
The website aims to double its membership at the end of 2013.
