Airports in the Asia Pacific region continued to experience a strong rise in passenger traffic in August 2012, according to the latest data from Airports Council International (ACI).
The monthly data showed that 6.6% more people travelled through the region’s airports in August compared to the same month last year.
Beijing’s Capital International Airport was the region’s busiest passenger hub in August, handling 7.5 million passengers. Tokyo Haneda was second with 6.5m passengers, followed by Hong Kong (5.1m) and Jakarta (4.8m).
For the first eight months of the year, passenger traffic at Asia Pacific airports has now climbed 7.9%, following a 9.9% rise in international traffic and a 6.6% increase in domestic.
