Four international companies are taking part in the project, at a cost of AED2 million, a senior official of the village was stated in Gulf News. The mascot is expected to be launched during this season of Global Village.
Total revenue and expenditure for the village reached AED1.5 billion last year after receiving more than five million visitors. Saeed Ali Bin Redha, CEO of Global Village, said: “It is time for Global Villageto have its own character.”
Over the past 17 years, Global Village has expanded from hosting 10 country pavilions to more than 40 today with added entertainment and culinary attractions. The event which launched on 21 Oct 2012 witnessed over 600,000 visitors until 28 Oct 12, this is including the first two days of Eid. The first day of Eid there were more than 120,000 visitors and the second day of Eid Global Village received more than 140,000 visitors.
