EVA Air has launched flights to the Japanese city of Hakodate.

The Taiwanese airline will initially fly to the Hokkaido port city twice a week (Sundays and Wednesdays) using a 252-seat Airbus A330-200 aircraft.

“Hakodate is EVA’s first new route under the open sky agreement between Japan and Taiwan,” said EVA’s Chairman James Jeng. “We have been serving the route with seasonal charters since 1998 and have provided approximately 400 charter flights. The regularly scheduled operations we are offering now make travel between Hakodate and Taipei even more attractive and accessible. Hakodate is a very promising travel market,” he added.

EVA will add a third weekly flight, on Thursdays, to Hakodate from December 2012.
