Andhra Pradesh tiger reserve to be expanded

The Critical Tiger Habitat (CTH) in the Nagarjunasagar-Srisailam Tiger Reserve (NSTR) will be expanded to incorporate the Gundla Brahmeswara Wildlife Sanctuary (GBMWS), according to a Times of India report. Spread over five districts of the state, NSTR is home to an estimated population of 70 tigers, while GBMWS, which houses the densest part of the Nallamalla Forest, has about 12 big cats. The two reserves are connected by a corridor. With this new development, the Forest Department will devise a new management plan for the combined tiger reserves.
