The Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) and Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) signed four separate Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with US-based authorities. The MoUs were signed with the aim of strengthening commercial ties, developing reciprocal cooperation and expanding strategic partnership in terms of trade exchange between Sharjah and the USA.
The MoU’s were signed during the Sharjah road show in the USA – a five-day tour of Washington DC and New York City.
Under the terms of the MoUs, the parties will seek to share experience in promoting and attracting foreign investment, and facilitate company referrals thus increasing business activity in Sharjah and the USA. The MoUs aim, also, to support inward investments referred by each other with the set-up or expansion of their business. Both parties will explore broader channels of cooperation in sectors such as tourism, retail, technology, renewal energy, healthcare and logistics.
Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qassimi, chairman of Sharjah Media Centre and head of the Sharjah Delegation said: “Sharjah is keen to explore and activate new channels of international cooperation and to promote its business offerings and investment opportunities to further boost its position as an ideal regional base for business and investment.”
Under the terms of the MoU Shurooq and US-UAE Business Council will work to encourage and promote investment and commercial cooperation between their business communities as well as exchange of business delegations and economic discussion.
