The Western Region Development Council recently announced the issuance of its first sustainability report for 2011 and 2012. The sustainability report highlights the Council’s efforts in achieving sustainable development in Al Gharbia. This is in addition to planned future initiatives related to the environment, economy, infrastructure and education.

His Excellency Mohamed Hamad Bin Azzan Al Mazrouei, acting undersecretary of the Ruler’s Representative Court in the western region and director general of the Western Region Development Council said: “We endeavor to achieve and help realize plans outlined in Plan Abu Dhabi 2030 and Plan Al Gharbia 2030, for the development of the region’s various sectors.”

HE Al Mazroui reiterated that the Council aims to achieve sustainable development through the adherence of high standards. The sustainable report also helps shed light on the progress witnessed in the Western Region, as well as highlights the vital role played by the Council in this area.

The sustainability report will also incorporate the Council’s efforts in involving the community and encouraging them to adopt healthy practices and maintain a clean environment by organizing beach and desert cleaning campaigns, planting mangrove trees and the promotion of safe driving by launching the traffic awareness campaign, among so many others.
