Shore excursions specialist Cruising Excursions has expanded into the German, French and Dutch markets with local language websites, it has announced.
The move, which will see Rob Knoedl become regional sales manager for the Benelux countries, Germany, Austria and Switzerland, will repeat the model which has proved a success in the UK.
The company offers an alternative shore excursion to those offered by cruise lines – advertising itself as being a cheaper alternative – the trips can be booked both direct and through travel agents in 700 worldwide ports.
Simon Purchase said: “If English isn’t your language it’s very exhausting to have to concentrate hard to fully appreciate an excursion commentary, although it’s even worse to have to sit through commentary that is repeated in several different languages! With our expansion in Europe it made sense to add dedicated French, Dutch and German language tours.
“Cruisers from around the world have been using our English language website but when it comes to excursion descriptions it really is helpful to have this in one’s own language to fully appreciate the tour and its value and of course advantageous to the agent who wants to be fully au fait with the product. We hope to add Spanish and Italian language websites in due course.”
The company is launching in Belgium with Thomas Cook agents and has joined DRV, which is the German equivalent of ABTA.
